The stories, Tales from the Hotel Bentmoore: #1-#4, have been up for sale on B&N.com and Amazon.com for about two weeks. I'm still learning as I go, tweaking things, making changes. Granted, two weeks is not a long time at all; but here are a few things I've noticed so far:
1. I'm selling a LOT more copies on B&N than on Amazon. I have no idea why. The stories are available on Smashwords, as well, but you would never know it by the numbers I'm selling there. Seriously, it astounds me how much better they're selling on B&N than on the other two sites.
2. Another fact to to favor B&N: when I needed to make changes to the descriptions of the stories (and I think I needed to do that twice), B&N had them up and live again much faster than Amazon. They took a few hours; Amazon took three days. That is a crazy difference.
3. There is a huge difference between erotica and romance, but the best authors, the selling authors who still consider themselves erotica writers, will blend the two into something called "erotica romance." The Tales from the Hotel Bentmoore stories are, I think, pure erotica. There is no romance, no happy ending, no boy-gets-the-girl-and-they-live-in-love. These stories are pure sex, for the pleasure of sex. I might write at some point an "erotica romance" story; but right now, I'm having fun with what I'm doing.
And, of course, I'm still writing as much as I can, as often as I can. The next batch of stories is tentatively to be called Masters of the Hotel Bentmoore. More info as I get them done.
